Shenton Safaris’ Kaingo and Mwamba camps are the creations of the Shenton family, which has a proud history of three generations of wildlife conservation. Derek Shenton, who built Kaingo in 1992 and now runs these camps with his wife Juliet, is the son of Barry Shenton, former Warden of Kafue National Park and grandson of Capt. Lindsay Shenton, former warden of Hluhluwe National Park. Kaingo and Mwamba are renown for exceptional game-viewing in a beautiful, yet relaxed atmosphere.

Shenton Safaris have photographic hides guaranteed to get you close enough to the wildlife to capture incredible moments - in complete safety. The most famous are the Hippo Hide, Elephant Hide, Carmine Bee-eater Hide, and Last Waterhole Hide.

Experts have dubbed South Luangwa one of the greatest wildlife sanctuaries in the world, and not without reason. The concentration of game around the Luangwa River and its Ox-bow lagoons is among the most intense in Africa. Shenton Safaris is located deep within the wealthiest game viewing area of the South Luangwa National Park. The regions surrounding their camps are incredibly abundant in wildlife, particularly the big cats. There are ten leopards, and three active Lion Prides in this area, named the Mwamba-Kaingo Pride, the Kapanda Pride and the Hollywood Pride, the latter called so due to the vast amount of time documentary filmmakers have spent following them.
